I love making music. My guess is, you do too. If you make music and want to make a career out of it, you need to. I can never remember having some one tell me they don’t like making music yet are a musician trying to make money from their art. It just doesn’t happen, you need to love the music business in order to carry on what you’re doing.
The funny thing however, is I do often hear well established acts saying they have lost their love for making music. There are usually two main reason for this: One, maybe because they are sick of the same repetitive lifestyle (Waking up early, doing interview and performances, gigging, studio time etc), or two because they are no longer making music they enjoy making.
The first of these things is often nothing more then a shallow wine. In reality, if what they are achieving all came crumbling down tomorrow they would crumble alongside it. They wouldn’t want to get a day job, and given the choice most likely they would get back into the music lifestyle at some point.
The second reason however, is a more genuine one. The thing is, when you get signed to a record label, some times you have to sign over your creative control. This mean they can tell you what type of music to make, even though you may not always agree.
So you need to ask yourself, are you willing to make a different type of music in order to be ‘successful’? This all boils down to your music business strategies, and what you want to achieve. You may be better off keeping it independent, reading the How to Attract 3000 Facebook Fans in 30 Days review, and making music the way your want to make it. What ever you decide, good luck with your music.
