If you attempt to become a good DJ with cheap headphones then I am not going to lie – your chances of succeeding are slim. On the other hand, if you purchase the most state of the art headphones that you can find, you have definitely overpaid. Poor headphones are going to make this thing harder than it needs to be but amazing headphones are not necessary. You just need something that lets you do your job without causing you problems.

When you eventually do get a cool gig in a club you will also want to do everything in your power to prevent you from screwing things up. An easy way to screw things up and give yourself a bad reputation as a DJ is to improperly mix music. You would be correct if you said that you hear bad mixing in clubs all the time; alcohol has a way of allowing people to not notice this. Regardless, if you ever want to become famous, or just become a good DJ, you should be properly mixing track. To do this it is recommended that you have the best DJ headphones. It will be difficult to tell when to drop in a new track if you are using poor quality headphones. These poor quality headphones would include most good headphones for exercising by the way.

I am sure there is at least a small part of you that wanted to become a DJ because it is a cool thing to do. If you solely want to become a DJ because you absolutely love music and nothing else then extra props to you; loving music is key to succeeding. But if you became a DJ at because you wanted to be cool then you should also get some cool looking headphones.

They say that practice does not make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect; you are not practicing perfectly unless you have got yourself a pair of good DJ headphones.
