Britain is a country that has produced many famous rock acts, including the legendary Beatles, among many others. But when Britain and America combine to form one supergroup, it can only mean very good things for the music industry. This is what happened to Fleetwood Mac, a British-American rock act formed back in 1967 in the city of London, that has become one of the most famous names in the rock industry. Many of their albums have become classics, so much so that their vinyls are prized by collectors and users of new record players such as the Crosley Record Player.
Fleetwood Mac’s origins date back to 1967, when Peter Green left his British blues band to pursue another dream. He asked a drummer named Mick Fleetwood, who he had worked with in two previous bands, to form a brand new band after they worked together in The Bluesbreakers. They wanted another Bluesbreakers member, John McVie to join, and when he finally did around late 1967, Fleetwood Mac was born. Since then, they have made a number of albums over the years, changing in style along with the changing of members. Some have doubted Fleetwood Mac’s true talents, saying that it was a fluke that they found success, until the release of their album “Rumours” in 1977.
This album, which has sold over 30 million copies all over the globe, has proven that Fleetwood Mac’s success was no mere lucky draw. Many expected the band’s album to fail, especially since a few years before the album’s release, founder Peter Green left the band, and the tumultuous relationships that the remaining members had to go through almost made it certain that the album would not work. However, it was due to these hard times that the band found fuel to create a cocaine fueled, trouble-filled album that would sound like paradise on Earth.
Powerful singles such as “Second Hand News”, “Go Your Own Way”, “Never Going Back Again”, and “Dreams” all provide a sonically perfect sound, giving listeners good melodies, powerful vocals, and an overall amazing sound experience that goes up, down, and all around emotionally, psychologically, and even physically.
It is one of the biggest records in music history, a groundbreaking album that left its mark on the decade, and still influences people today. The album is such a fantastic piece of music history, that listening to it anywhere, such as underwater using a waterproof MP3 player, will still be an experience to remember.
